4-H’ers Develop Their Communication Skills

Youth from throughout Lincoln County were provided with an opportunity to practice and enhance their speaking skills during this year’s Communication Contest.  During this pre-fair event, youth were able to share a puppetry performance, do a demonstration on one of their 4-H projects, give an original speech, read poetry or a story.  The contest was held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Our Saviour’s Church in Merrill.  Thirteen youth from three 4-H clubs participated in this year’s event.  Renee Williams, Stephanie Zoellner and the Rock Falls Rascals 4-H Club coordinated the contest.

The Communications Contest is open to all youth grades kindergarten to 13th grade (one year out of high school).  Through their preparation for and participation in this event, young people are developing their speaking abilities and confidence in performing in front of an audience.
