4-H’ers Share Their Musical Skills

4-H members from throughout Lincoln County braved the cold weather to take part in this year’s Lincoln County 4-H Music and Lip Sync Festival on Saturday, January 24th at St. John’s School.  During this event, youth had the opportunity to demonstrate their musical talents and performance skills.  Rita Koepke and the Corning Yankees 4-H Club coordinated the contest.

The 4-H Music and Lip Sync Festival provides 4-H members of all ages a chance to perform and demonstrate their talents.  Youth have the opportunity to play an instrument or sing as an individual or a duet or with a group, perform a dance routine or lip sync their favorite song.  A recent study conducted by the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development program found that children that participate in 4-H arts and communication programs gain important technical, communication and teamwork skills while increasing their self-esteem and self-confidence.  Youth who took part in this survey reported that their work with 4-H helped them improve their individual performance and creativity skills, build good learning habits as they integrated feedback from judges, and bolstered their opportunities to become confident public speakers.

If you are interested in learning more about 4-H or how to gettng involved in Lincoln County 4-H, please feel free to contact Debbie or Amanda at the UW-Extension office at 539-1072 or visit the 4-H website at www.lincolncounty4h.com.  4-H is open to all youth throughout Lincoln County between kindergarten and one year past graduation from high school.
